I searched high and low for scones. Australians don’t do “high-tea” here, the only cafe that i know of that serves high tea is the one on little collins. But i’ve never been. I was craving for scones the whole week last week. But my assignments kind of stopped me from going out to look for them. To my dissapointment, they weren’t any left when i went to Coles last night ada tapi they were all the savoury kinds . I’m abit iffy when it comes to sundried tomatoes in scones. I prefer mine done the original way.
I remember eating Scones all the time in Boarding School. There was this home-economics teacher Ms Terry who used to bake them for afternoon-tea meetings held at the school. She would serve it with her very own fresh strawberry jam and whipped cream – which she whipped herself. Her scones were always perfect! It was always fluffy and soft in the inside. never hard like some of the scones they serve at the cafes here…my mistake for not asking her for the recipe.
…and her cream was always thickkkkkkk and fresh..and omg. i can just go on and on and on about Ms terry’s Scones.
huhuhu. Since leaving boarding school, ive been finding it hard to find plain scones here in melbourne. Most of the scones they serve at cafes are either the savoury kinds OR they have raisins in it. mcm. sadang2 jua kan kamu campur sgala cheese sgala tomatoes sgala kismis ani eh..alang alang jua. kenapa nda tibadak, nangka apa kamu campur jua? haha pandai takut. hahaha. anyway, my cravings were too strong and having failed at searching for the plain kinds i decided to have a go at baking my own.
this is how it turned out. Surprisingly, it tasted and looked like real scones! (had it with strawberry jam and a dollop of heavy cream) Not too shabby for a beginner kan? hahaha.
Storing them in tea towels till Molz and Kelz gets back. hahah satu atu pucat. lupa ku tebalikkan. hahaha luan excited kan menggambar. hahaha.
Recipe:-
2cups self raising flour
half cup milk
half cup water
30grams butter
Nauli thought they were nice too, although it lacked butter. The recipe only said to incorporate 30grams of butter. Mcm. wah SIKIT JUA? My mistake for giving it the benefit of the doubt. next time, i’d be sure to add in extra butter and maybe a pinch of salt, cause i forgot that i was using unsalted butter. but yeah.
haha ive had my fix of scones, and now i’m happy.
