Good news & Bad News

Rumours are circulating that Wentworth Miller is gay. I found out from Nawa who found out from Nick who found out from Peter. My reaction to this was? Wentworth? Wentworth who? MY wentworth? Can’t be! if that’s the case then the world doesn’t make sense anymore!!!!!!!!!

Shakened up by the whole thing, i straight away went on the internet and googled “Wentworth Miller GAY”. And I didn’t find anything of subsantial proof, only that he was found holding another guy’s hand at a party somewhere. So? He’s a hand holder it doesn’t say anything.

Ah. The power of denial kan?

null

The good news is that apparently this Peter guy thinks everyonefrom Tom Cruise to John Travolta to Oprah is gay When i asked why, Nick told me it was because Peter is gay!

So i don’t think there’s anything to worry about lah. hahaha. Just another gay-guy’s attempt in crushing every woman’s dreams of baring Wentworth Miller’s child.

kah kah kah..

Siti, Please write properly!

I don’t really have anything to talk about and I dont really know why I even attempted blogging. Lets see now.. where do i start?

I know for a fact that mom would be happy with my latest posts. Mom’s the one who usually complains about my writing, mainly because my punctuations and capital letters are often not in the right places. Like i can be bothered kan? exactly. But lately I have – so i hope you’re happy 😀 Now im wondering how many of you out there do pay attention to the not so obvious grammatical errors?

HUhHhuhuhuhu……this is what mom means by not writing properly. I tend to over use “…….” and “!!!!!” and i spell malaysia & singapore with a lower case M and S but i spell “Toilet” with a capital “T” and “Fried Chicken” with a capital “F” and “C”. As you can see, i play favourites – I only use capital letters on things that i like and things that i want to get noticed. Instead of bolding them, i use capital letters. Funny. But that’s just the way i work. The “…..” on the other hand means “I’m thinking of the next thing to say. So while my fingers waits for my brain to tell them to type it goes “………….”. The longer i think the longer the “…..”. So you can tell through my posts how fast or how MUCH i think. “!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Could mean a few things: One, that i am happy. Two, that i am excited. Three, that i am ANGRY. or any combination of two.

One time my writing even led my mom to believe that tHis was..how i write for my SchOol assignments. Its shitty enough that i get penalized for handing my assignments late I don’t think i’d want more marks to be cut off just because i spelt Australia – ostralia , ostroria, astro ria.

The thing is with me, I don’t really think of what i’m going to post prior to opening the wordpress window. I just write whatever that comes to mind. By the time i’ve thought up something to write my brain’s probably too busy listening to my musings that it forgets to tell the other part of my brain to use capital letters fullstops, commas, gigi, ninimu, muamu and so on.

Unless i have to write and assignment or a letter to John Howard to tell him how HANDSOME he is (if only he had hair), i really dont care much about my capital letters. Blog ku jua ganya. Bukannya orang lain.

I’m going to go and try my hand at making braised chicken now. Is it me? or is this blog slowly turning in to a food blog?

peeeas

kiss me.

Fifteen Melbourne:- Is Tobie on the menu??

So today Kamy and I made our way to Fifteen melbourne to sample what is known to the rest of the world as Jamie Oliver’s cutting edge cuisine. Like i have mentioned in my last post, i wasn’t expecting much. At least i tried not to. From looking at his recipes and his cook shows on the telly i often question myself:- Is it possible for food that simple to be that good? He must just be overrated lah! Well i was about to find out.

Kamy’s exact directions on the phone this morning were:- “Ti, its the lane just a little bit after Hermes.” Like most popular restaurants here in Melbourne, Fifteen is tucked away in one of the swanky-slightly-snobbish lanes of Collins Street. Upon reaching the establishment, i saw Tobie Puttock (‘the hot young chef’) and a few other familiar faces working in the kitchen. I say familiar because i’ve been following the Fifteen series for a while now. But i played “too cool for school” and walked to our tables pretending i hadn’t seen anything hahaha. There wasn’t anything new about the decor. The velvet coloured walls straight away reminded us of Twelve in Kiulap and i was half expecting a filipino waitress to serve us with overfried and overpriced calamari rings that tastes like ONION rings. My thoughts were distrupted by a lady who handed us the lunch menu. I scanned through the menu and realised that we weren’t exactly spoilt for choice. There were a few selections of salads probably about 3 kinds of pastas and 5 kinds of Mains. Mains costs a little bit under $40, pastas and entrees were a little bit under $20 -Usually the case with restaurants that bares the same concept. Kamy settled for the Stracci. And me not trusting their pastas for their simple ingredients, i went for the plate of flounder with grilled asparagus and zuchinni. There was a long wait for the food and while waiting,we were served with the usual variety of breads on wooden boards .Nothing special ofcourse, unless its your first encounter with a SASABAN.Had the waitress not be as friendly and if Tobie hadn’t been around for me to check him out i would’ve been out the door in two seconds.

*a half arsed photo of fifteen.

Our food came half an hour later. When you’re hungry half an hour feels like a lifetime. I picked up my fork and had a mouthful of flounder and my tastebuds were flyinggg everyyyywhereee. I tried Kamy’s Stracci and it was fabulous!! Rich in flavour. Proving me the otherwise. My flounder was okay but i wanted what KAMY was having. Every mouthful that we had came with long satisfying MmMmmMMms loud enough to make the people next to us turn around and stare. But i couldn’t care less. I was in a trance. The food was gone in a matter of minutes and with food this good it worked up my enthusiasm for dessert.

We had a few options for dessert. I chose the Panacotta and Kamy went for their Dark Chocolate tart of some sort. The place was clearing up as it was almost 3pm so the desserts came almost right away. The flounder and the Stacci left me with high hopes and that was crushed when i did not know what to make out of my Panacotta. The portion was small and it felt as if i was eating funsize Twix. The panacotta got my tastebuds confused. My tastebuds were still partying from the fish and i felt forced to say that the pancotta was nice when in reality, to me it tasted BIASA SAJA. The texture of the Panacotta was fine but i thought the vanilla beans tasted a little bit too strong almost alcohol like. Kamy’s chocolate on the other hand was to me, OKAY too. Not exactly orgasmic..but OKAY nothing beats the white chocolate custard from Chocolate Buddha. (Whoever invented this word OKAY is a genius. lol. )

All in all, my Fifteen Melbourne experience was alright. Truthfully, the Pancotta said it all:- I liked it. and I didn’t. Bits of it were okay the rest could do with a little bit of improvement. I think they could be slightly more generous with their portions and they should just leave the patrons with the wooden board of bread instead of just going around with it (come on lah! live a little!). However, today’s culinary expeirence have taught me that food with simple ingredients could also be as delicious – even if its only pasta huhu and Jamie Oliver is not overrated.

You have got to be prepared to spend at least $50 on lunch. $10 extra for sparkling mineral water. lol. But its well worth it. I’m giving the FISH a 6/10 , Kamy’s Stacci an 8/10 .. and 5/10 for the dessert and a 10 out of 10 for Tobie’s curls. huhuhu. Oh After paying the bill the waitress did offered to find Tobie for me so that i could take a picture with him but he wasn’t around. cheh. Next time Tobie..i well get you next time. *evil laugh*

Oh. I didn’t take pictures of the place cause we were too malu. We were playing “too cool for school?” remember? hahaha. Thanks Kamy. Next time again!!!!

kiss me.

PS: FERRERO ROCHER SALE AT BIG W. GO NOW!! $6 a BOX!!

Epicurious.

Kamy managed to get reservations for two at Melbourne’s Fifteen tommorow afternoon..and she’s taking me with her!!! woohoo This is a great opportunity to try out the restaurant as the place if fully booked for dinner till February next year!!

I’m not expecting much from the food as it isn’t exactly made by professional chefs. However, in the event of Jamie Oliver turning up..i would gladly leave a tip for overcooked fish. Chances are pretty slim. So the food must better be GOOD!!!!

oh the joy!
kiss me.

Uncertified Foodie: Kylie Kwong can kiss my ass.

APAKANNIE. PUKUL 12 PAGI BARU BANGUN ANI. BUKAN LAGI PAGI. PATANG.

UNI starts next week for me.. and i have yet to set my body clock right. PUKUL 12 BARU BANGUN?? I’m very mad at myself. I was gonna wake up early today to go to the asian groceries. I didn’t get to make Pandan chicken last night as Laguna ran out of pandan leaves. So i was gonna wake up early make the trip to the other 3 Asian groceries on Bourke Street to find my pandan leaves. If i was back at home it’d be just a matter of asking someone to take it from the back garden. I don’t even have to do it myself.

I have been cooking alot past few days. Been experimenting with spices that i’ve never cooked or seen my mom cooked with before. Just the other day i tried making FRIED FIVE SPICE CALAMARI using FIVE SPICE WITH KEVIN SPACEY (i just had to add in the last bit) and it turned out good. Over the weekend i was craving for Cecconi’s Squid Ink Pasta but instead of spending the $33 on a small portioned dish i popped in to David Jones to find packed squid ink spaghetti so that i could make it at home – but they only had fettucini. Not what i was looking for. So The next day i went down to Victoria Market and made another hunt for this teeth blackening pasta..though to no avail. They only seem to have squid ink fettucini in stock and not spaghetti. ish. So i guess a trip down to Cecconi’s would be due soon. I’ll just have to wait till my cravings get out of hand.. to the point of I HAVE TO HAVE MY SQUID INK PASTA IF NOT I WILL DIE.

* I have yet to master the arts of criss-crossing a squid so that it’d curl up in to pretty shapes. I want to make my Sotong the Heidi Klum of all Sotong.

5 Spice Calamari Recipe:- WITH LOVE
-Squid..cut the way you like..or cut the way you dont like for friends you dont really like.
-Plain Flour, enough to coat your squid..”Squid Pakai COAT” kali ah. Although you can substitute PLAIN FLOUR with Corn Flour. Cornflour would be better i think. I made mine with plainflour and it wasn’t as crispy. So cornflour should do the trick!
-A few pinches of 5 Spice powder.. not too much cause i notice that the taste could be a tad overpowering.
– A teaspoon of chilli powder..or a pinch.
-Salt and Fresh Ground Black Pepper to taste.

DEEP FRY. NYUM!!

*Tip dari NiniGirl: Add a pinch of salt in to your cooking to make whatever you’re frying crispier. it works!

Last nite i made lasagna for Aunty & Kamy . I hope it turns out okay. The white sauce wasn’t the right consistency as i liked it to be. I got over excited with the milk. I might’ve poured too much in. I don’t know what happened there…best guess i was playing princess at that time and i was in Africa trying to feed milk to a tribe of malnutritioned kids.HAH! That’s the thing with cooking for people. You just can’t seem to do it right. Something ALWAYS goes wrong. With me, im comfortable making small portions for two.. or three the most but if i start making dinner for 20 people. everythinggggggg and i mean everrryyythinggg runs amok! There was this one time when my lasgana did not turn out the way i wanted it to be, this was also probably due to the fact that i was baking it a 3 oclock in the morning and i was cooking it because i HAD NO CHOICE as i was expecting people for lunch the next day. My guests thought it was okay.. but at that point of time..it didnt matter all i could ever think about was how horrific and disgusting it was that that i threw up with a spoonful. I am one mental case when it comes to food. MY FOOD exspecially. From experience, i’ve learned that the secret to good food is cooking it.. WITH LOVE. It’s like that book, Like Water for Chocolate and that movie..with Sarah Michelle Gellar; Simply Irresistable – What they feel goes in to their food. I couldn’t agree more!! Yatah kalau masak ani.. inda buleh marah2. mesti happy hapy. mesti seneng seneng nya orang endon. lol.

Oh. Anyway. I just saw Kylie Kwong’s latest cooking series. OMG. BULEH YA KE SHANGHAI BE TRANSLATOR. CINA INDA PANDAI CKP CINA? THATS LIKE MELAYU INDA PANDAI CKP MELAYU?? SOOOOOOOOOOOO BARIMALU. BAHASA MENUNJUKKAN BANGSA!!

kiss me.
